Reviews

Teghan captures the essence of writing a song so beautifully, and ‘Our Garden’ is just another example of her finely crafted art form. Get lost in her stripped back brilliance and beautiful vocals now.

Much like the biggest and best, Devon takes the intimacy of songwriting to the next level... giving the nod to Taylor Swift in her early days.

In all my years of reviewing artists’ music have I ever been moved to tears. EVER.

This is a lovely record, and you’d require a heart of stone not to be touched by the sentiment that Teghan brings to the table.

If there’s any justice, judging by the top notch song craft here and her flawless delivery Teghan Devon is a name that we’ll all be hearing more about very soon.
— Take Effect Reviews (Little Lion)
“With her fresh approach to songwriting and her intelligent and emotional insight, she doesn’t sound like anybody except herself. Teghan is a very moving artist just beginning to blossom and the only direction ahead of her is up.

I wrote “Our Garden” as a stripped down acoustic ballad. My producer, Chris DuPont, and cellist, Hanna Rumora, truly made the song, what I would call, magical. The arrangement is exactly what I wanted. Chris sings all the vocal harmonies and plays the sprinkles of piano. I live in Maryland and Chris lives in Michigan so we did everything remotely. I recorded my guitar part and vocal with engineer Todd Matthew Stotler at Echoes Recording Studio in Maryland. The track was mastered by SP Mixing and Mastering.

I first met Chris at Folk Alliance Regional Midwest in 2018. We played in a writer’s round in a private showcase room and kept in touch ever since. I wanted to work with Chris because he is a multi-instrumentalist who has a great ear for music. I remember playing my songs at other FAI conferences and he’d start playing the most beautiful guitar parts with me.

When I wrote “Our Garden”, my friend had just had their heart broken and was in a really bad place. I wrote the it to cheer them up and wanted them to know they weren’t alone. We lived across the country from each other so I first played it for them over FaceTime and they loved it. I used to play it at shows but then somehow forgot about it for about 3 years. I was going through my old voice memos and found a very rough demo of it from years ago. I had been through a lot when I re-discovered the song and honestly I needed it. I knew I had to release it.
